Local Priorities Mobile phone theft Update

I wanted to provide an update regarding Mobile phone theft, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

On Monday 15 September Wanstead Village Officers were conducting robbery patrols in the vicinity of Hermon hill / Chigwell Road E18 area. Officers came across a group of 5 Males with their hoods up, were sat on a bench inside the Holy trinity church car park.
Having seen the Males who were loitering and with the recent spate of robberies in the area officers decided to stop and account with the said Males.
Upon approaching all 5 Males, the other 3 males have decided to run with the 1 Male sat on the bench, officers then gave chase and detained another Male shortly after. Officers then apprehended 2 juvenile Males and ultimately detained.
Upon searching both Males the first Male was found in possession of a flick knife and a small amount of cannabis & the second Male was in possession of cannabis. Both males were consequently arrested for the offences.

NPT shall continue to carry out patrols to deter/disrupt all sort of criminal activity in Wanstead Village and neighboring areas.
